Newark Defense Lawyer

A criminal conviction can have severe consequences both now and in the future. Before you talk to the police or anyone else about your arrest, talk to me, Newark criminal defense lawyer Joseph D. Rotella. I am committed to protecting your rights.

Contact the Newark law offices of Joseph D. Rotella now at 973-621-0333 to discuss your case in a free initial consultation.

Areas of Practice

Federal criminal defense: Representing those charged with federal drug crimes, conspiracy, health care fraud, bribery, extortion and much more.

Drug crimes: Providing defense against charges such as drug possession, sales and manufacturing. I often seek alternative sentencing in cases where clients are proven guilty in an effort to avoid long prison sentences.

White collar crimes: Defense in federal and state courts against crimes such as embezzlement, fraud, money laundering, forgery and many other offenses.

Sex crimes: Defending those accused of sexual assault, rape, child pornography, online solicitation, luring, prostitution and all other sex crimes in New Jersey.

Violent crimes: Violent crimes such as aggravated robbery, carjacking, rape, attempted homicide and murder can result in a long prison sentence without the opportunity for early parole under New Jersey’s No Early Release Act (the “85% Rule”).

Gun crimes: I keep up on all changes to gun laws so I can properly defend people charged with firearms possession, felon in possession, weapons trafficking and other crimes.

DUI/DWI defense: Whether this is your first drunk driving arrest or you are a repeat offender, I will do my best to defend you and protect your reputation.

Juvenile crimes: A juvenile conviction will stay on a child’s record, running the risk of higher penalties for any subsequent convictions as an adult. Children who are 16 or 17 years old can be sent to a youth house until their 21st birthday. If your child is tried in adult court, all adult penalties will apply except for capital punishment.
